Climate action projects

Science is clear: Besides dramatically reducing their own impact, companies play a key role in the global transition to net-zero by acting beyond their value chain and supporting certified climate action projects.

What does funding climate action mean?

Within the climate strategy, carbon credits are a useful tool for balancing residual emissions by financing projects that have impacts throughout the corporate value chain.

Financing certified, quality climate projects through the purchase of carbon credits accelerates the transition to a low-carbon world where communities can thrive and biodiversity is not compromised.

For more than 10 years, we have been developing and enhancing climate action projects certified by international standards, with positive impacts on climate, biodiversity and sustainable development.

As of January 2022, we are part of South Pole. By joining the group, we have access to global resources, innovative technologies and over 850 certified projects around the world, while maintaining our role as a local leader in the Italian market.

Best Practices

Our projects are aligned with international standards that certify the quality of the carbon credits generated.
Our experts monitor the application of methodologies with the support of third-party verifiers to certify progress on the ground and alignment with stated goals.

As further quality assurance, the nonprofit organization International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA) has established a Code of Best Practice for member companies. The Code requires all members to sell only credits verified to industry recognized standards.

Projects in Italy and Europe

There is growing interest and willingness from companies, investors and developers to eventually develop projects generating certified carbon credits to Italy and Europe. The potential that the European region offers is high, lending itself especially to activities related to improved forest habitat management, plastic management and recycling projects, and biochar-related removal projects. Carbonsink and South Pole are ready to seize that potential thanks to our many years of expertise in climate solutions.
