November 2022 – ‘Sustainable Supply Chain Management: Between Responsibility and Opportunity for Business’ is the title of the Position Paper of the UN Global Compact Network Italy that will be launched at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) being held in Sharm el-Sheikh on Thursday 17 November from 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. (Italian time) within the Climate Ambition Hub (UNGC Pavilion – Green Zone).
The paper was developed by the Network with the active contribution of more than 30 member companies of the UNGC initiative, which are particularly sensitive and committed to the topic. The focus of the paper is the private sector’s commitment to managing supply chains in a sustainable way – identifying related challenges and opportunities – with vertical insights on the topics of Scope 3 emissions reduction; promotion and protection of human rights and decent work; and management of negative externalities through circular solutions.
Our General Manager Guido Alfani will participate in the conference launching the Position Paper, ‘Sustainable Supply Chains: Responsibilities and Opportunities for Enterprises’ together with institutional representatives Alessandro Modiano (Special Envoy for Climate Change of the Minister for Ecological Transition), Livio Spadavecchia (Counsellor, Directorate General for Development Cooperation, Ministry of International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs of Italy), Alexandra Kuxova (Policy Officer at the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs Directorate of the European Commission; and with the Managers of some of the Network’s member companies, Nicolò Sartori (Senior Reasearcher at Enel Foundation) and Marco Giulivi (ESG Leader at Edison). The UN Global Compact will be represented by Anna Kruip (Senior Manager Environment and Climate at the UN Global Compact) and by Marco Frey and Daniela Bernacchi, respectively President and Secretary General and Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Italy.
All speeches will be in English.
The meeting will also be streamed live on the UN Global Compact Network Italy YouTube channel.
